Achievement of Progressive Knit Alliance
MOTHERS@WORK Programme
We have successfully implemented the MOTHERS@WORK programme in 30 factories. MOTHERS@WORK is a national initiative to strengthen maternity rights and protect the breastfeeding rights of working mothers. The program is implemented in partnership with the Bangladesh Government, BKMEA, and UNICEF.


BKMEA-EPB Training Program
The BKMEA-EPB training Program started in 2010 and will continue to 2025. BKMEA has completed the Management trainee-2080 Person & Worker trainee-6750 Person. After the training program, the Management and the workers are contributing to increase the factory’s efficiency, productivity, and quality.
EIS Data Collection Project of ILO
This joint intervention with the ILO has successfully completed the Employment Injury Scheme (EIS) programme to ensure the prevention, adequate compensation, medical care, and rehabilitation of workers. The relevant Data has been collected from 40 BKMEA member factories.


HREDD
The HREDD project is strengthening the implementation of human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) in the RMG sector of Bangladesh. TOT to BKMEA pool trainers on Grievance Handling Mechanism & German Supply Chain Due Diligence initiative has been successfully completed. Also completed the 2 2-day training on Grievance Mechanism (8 batches) & German Supply Chain Due Diligence (01 Batch for Dhaka Zone) for factory management.
TB Control
he BKMEA TB CONTROL PROJECT aims to strengthen TB control efforts through establishing effective partnerships with factories, mobilizing necessary resources and ensuring quality diagnostic and treatment services under the DOTS strategy.
Population Coverage: 131,415 (Workers with midlevel management)
Sputum (AFB, X-ray, Gene-Expert) tested: 19473
Total no. TB Patients identified (All forms): 2686
No. patients under treatment: 429 (11patient. died during the treatment period)
No. Patients completed treatment: 2257


Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP)
The objective of this project is to develop a skilled workforce through extensive training initiatives. BKMEA has completed training of 56,721 trainees during the period from 05 May 2015 to 31 December 2023. BKMEA has implemented four types of training programs, which include
- Graduate Training Program (new entrants)
- Operator Training Program (new entrants)
- Upskilling Training Program (For workers)
- Upskilling Training Program (for management staff).
Model Enterprise Clinic
BKMEA has successfully established “Model Enterprise Clinic” in 15 factories. Those 15 factories are certified as “Model Enterprise Clinic” who have complied with the approved checklist, formed “Healthcare Committee”, Oriented with the “Handbook” developed by ILO.


Enterprise level Engagement
Partnership between BKMEA and Better Work Bangladesh for Enterprise-level Engagement for Learning and Capacity Development Activities.
The induction and Coaching of the industry associates (BKMEA experts) have been completed. 18 (among 200) factory assessment visits have been completed by the industry associates.
Improving SRHR in RMG
BKMEA and IPAS Bangladesh have agreed to collaborate for facilitating the implementation of sexual and reproductive health services, including MR, PAC, and FP services at BKMEA health center at Narayanganj and gradually the project will extend its support to other BKMEA factory clinics at Narayanganj and Gazipur in consultation with the BKMEA. This includes:
- ToT on Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Reproductive Coercion (RC) for counseling of service providers of BKMEA including SBCC materials has completed.
- Training of the Doctor, health practitioners on FP, MR and PAC services has completed.
- Awareness raising initiatives on SRHR and SGBV for the selected factory workers at their facilities has been completed.


Mental Health Project under FIP
Factory Improvement programme of BKMEA member factories on mental health-psychosocial hazard, OSH & waste management. This includes Mental Health awareness, OSH, and Waste management, which have been developed in 75 BKMEA member factories.
Family Planning Commodities Supply
To ensure the maternal health, unexpected pregnancy and safe MR of Bangladesh Ready Made Garments Workers, BKMEA is administrating various types of activities. “Family Planning Commodities Supply in RMG sector” program is one of them. Under the program BKMEA as one of the implementing partner who is mobilizing and conducting the whole program. It’s a government initiative which is run by the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP). Here Marie Stops is a development partner also making bridge with DGFP and BKMEA for achieving the objective of this program.
